Press Briefing Held for Martyr Lieutenant Caner Gönyeli-2023 Search and Rescue Exercise

A press briefing was conducted at the Security Forces Command Headquarters in Boğazköy to provide information about the upcoming Martyr Lieutenant Caner Gönyeli-2023 Search and Rescue Invitation Exercise. Security Forces Commander Major General Osman Aytaç shared details about the search and rescue activities and the exercise during the briefing.

The exercise will be carried out in two phases, namely the land and sea phases, and will encompass three different scenarios. Today, the land phase of the exercise took place in the Kyrenia 101 Evler region.

Tomorrow, the sea phase of the exercise will be conducted in the Eastern Mediterranean, specifically off the coast of Famagusta, within the territory and territorial waters of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), as well as in international waters falling within the Turkish Search and Rescue Region.

In addition to the participating Turkish forces, observers from various countries will also be taking part in this year’s exercise. Among the participating nations are Azerbaijan, Qatar, Libya, Sudan, Kosovo, the Philippines, and Djibouti.

The Martyr Lieutenant Caner Gönyeli-2023 Search and Rescue Invitation Exercise serves as a crucial opportunity to enhance coordination and cooperation among the participating nations in conducting effective search and rescue operations in different scenarios.
