Minister Yerlikaya Announces Success of “Siberağ-14” Operations Against Cyber Crimes
Minister Yerlikaya took to social media to share the successful outcomes of the “Siberağ-14” operations carried out in several provinces across Turkey. These operations, orchestrated by the provincial gendarmerie commands in Ankara, Aydın, Manisa, Hatay, Zonguldak, and Mersin under the coordination of the chief public prosecutor’s offices and the Gendarmerie General Command’s Cyber Crimes Department, aimed to combat cyber crimes and protect citizens from online fraud.
A total of 20 suspects were apprehended during the operations, all of whom were found to have been involved in transactions totaling 240 million lira in their accounts. Minister Yerlikaya revealed that these individuals were engaging in fraudulent activities on social media platforms, luring victims with promises of high profits through cryptocurrency schemes, fake advertisements for second-hand goods, holiday packages, flight tickets, and accommodation services, as well as promoting illegal betting practices online.
Following investigations by the Prosecutor’s Office, 9 suspects were arrested, while judicial control orders were issued for 7 others. The remaining suspects are currently under investigation as the authorities continue their crackdown on criminal networks that exploit unsuspecting citizens through false investment schemes and illicit online activities.
The operations led to the seizure of numerous computers, phones, portable memory devices, and bank/credit cards used in these criminal activities. Minister Yerlikaya commended the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office for their coordination of the operations and praised the gendarmerie forces for their heroic efforts in carrying out the raids.
