Massive 300,000 Euro Reward Offered in Edirne Streets for Finder
Istanbul narcotics police have been cracking down on money launderers in recent months across five provinces, with a specific target on the connections of Joseph Johannes Leidekkers, one of Europe’s most wanted drug lords. Leidekkers, who is rumored to be living in Turkey according to the Dutch press, has a €300,000 bounty on his head.
The hunt for Leidekkers led to the hanging of “wanted” posters in the streets of Edirne, promising the generous reward for any information leading to his capture. These posters caught the attention of the public, sparking discussions and intrigue among citizens.
Further investigations revealed that Leidekkers was orchestrating the money traffic from drug sales in Europe, with the help of Naci Y., a key figure in laundering the millions of liras obtained from drug deals. Despite the operation leading to the arrest of his brother and the seizure of multiple crypto phones, Naci Y. remains at large.
In a separate operation, Dutch police raided the house of Leidekkers’ father, resulting in the arrest of the 68-year-old man for his alleged involvement in cocaine smuggling through Rotterdam and Antwerp ports. Luxury items worth €140,000 were seized from the house.
The presence of the “wanted” posters in Edirne has stirred a mix of curiosity and speculation among residents. Metin Barmanbay, a local, expressed his surprise and interest in the reward amount, while Emine Saraç found the situation strange but intriguing.
