Massive Blaze Engulfs 10-Storey Plaza in Şişli, Emergency Crews Rush to Scene
A fire broke out on the 9th floor of a 10-storey plaza on Büyükdere Street in Istanbul around 2:00 pm for reasons yet unknown. Witnesses who saw the fire quickly evacuated the building and called the fire department for help. The fire brigade team arrived promptly and used a ladder to extinguish the fire.
After half an hour of efforts, the fire was successfully put out. The dramatic scenes of smoke billowing from the building and the firefighters in action were captured on a mobile phone camera.
As a result of the fire, Büyükdere Street experienced heavy traffic congestion. Fortunately, there were no reports of any injuries or casualties from the incident.
In other news, the Turkish Defense Ministry reported that 17 PKK terrorists were neutralized in a recent air operation in northern Iraq. The operation targeted areas in Gara, Hakurk, and Kandil, where the terrorists were said to be active.
