In an upcoming event organized by the Respect the Deep Diving Community, more than a thousand divers are gearing up to participate in the largest dive ever seen in Turkey. These divers will dive from 134 different locations across the country. Joining them will be divers from Azerbaijan, Macedonia, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The dive is set to commence in front of the historic Dolmabahçe Palace, where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of modern Turkey, passed away.
Adding to the significance of the event is the participation of Yasemin Dalkılıç, a renowned freediving record holder from the United States. This event will see nearly a thousand divers from various points in Turkey, ranging from Lake Nemrut in Bitlis to Kaş, from Fethiye to Istanbul.
Gökhan Karakaş, Vice President of the Deep Respect Diving Community, expressed the purpose behind this remarkable diving event. He stated, “We will dive deep to safeguard the hard-won achievements of our glorious Republic and to strengthen our national unity. The epicenter of this unprecedented dive in Turkey will be in front of the Dolmabahçe Palace, where our revered ancestor bid farewell.”
Noteworthy locations for the dive include the Nemrut Crater Lake, situated at an altitude of 2,650 meters in the Tatvan district of Bitlis. Diving Instructor Kadir Ekinci emphasized the unique experience awaiting the divers, stating, “Divers will feel the excitement of the Blue Homeland concept in every shade of our majestic homeland.”
Supporting the Cumhuriyet Diving event from the depths of Fethiye is underwater documentary producer Savaş Karakaş. Additionally, the event will feature special anthems and songs prepared by rising rap artist Erhan Tozkoparan (Yankee) and Turkish pop and Latin music singer Ege, specifically composed for the occasion of the Republic’s 100th anniversary. These compositions will be broadcasted for the first time during the event.
This momentous diving event not only celebrates the Republic’s centennial anniversary but also serves as a unifying force for divers from all corners of Turkey and neighboring countries. It symbolizes the deep respect and appreciation divers hold for their homeland, its history, and the unity of its people.
In related news, the 100th anniversary of the Republic will bring another significant development to Turkey. A transportation project is set to be inaugurated on this historic occasion, further contributing to the progress and prosperity of the nation.
This record-breaking diving event and the upcoming transportation project serve as reminders of Turkey’s continued growth and achievements as it enters its second century as a Republic.
