MEB Introduces Türkiye Century Education Model to 81 Provinces in Circular
The Ministry of National Education in Turkey has announced the implementation of the Turkey Century Education Model to support students’ holistic development. This model aims to enhance students’ mental, social, emotional, physical, and moral growth.
According to the ministry’s website, the circular outlining the Turkey Century Education Model has been distributed to all 81 provinces under the signature of National Education Minister Yusuf Tekin. Planned trainings for this model have already begun, with teacher trainings set to take place from September 2-6 coordinated by provincial education directorates.
The trainings will be both theoretical and practical, lasting for 3 days, and will be conducted by provincial or district education directorates for teachers who will be teaching specific grade levels. Teachers who have received trainer training certificates will have the opportunity to provide training for others outside the designated grade levels.
Furthermore, school administrators will undergo training regarding their roles and responsibilities within the Turkey Century Education Model. They will also receive guidance on how to effectively implement the model within their schools.
The curriculum for the Turkey Century Education Model will be based on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs, ensuring that all students receive a comprehensive education. Textbooks and e-content materials have been developed to complement each other and facilitate multi-faceted student development. Evaluation activities will focus on measuring both knowledge and skills, without creating a competitive environment among students.
Students will be encouraged to read literary works and participate in critical film analysis as part of the curriculum. The selection of texts will be based on age-appropriate criteria, and students will be equipped with tools to evaluate the content they engage with.
Overall, the Turkey Century Education Model aims to provide a well-rounded educational experience for students, focusing on their overall growth and development. By implementing this model effectively, students across Turkey will have the opportunity to thrive academically and personally.
