Medical Association’s Warning: “Don’t jeopardize your well-being”

KTTB Urges Public to Prioritize Health and Safety

The Cyprus Turkish Medical Association (KTTB) has called on the public to prioritize their health and avoid putting themselves at risk. Dr. Dt. Ahmet Özant, the president of KTTB, issued a statement emphasizing the association’s commitment to ensuring the integrity of medical practices in the country.

According to Özant, the KTTB Board of Directors has been working diligently to investigate unregistered and illegally working physicians, as well as certain occupational groups that conduct medical procedures without proper qualifications. In collaboration with the General Directorate of Police, Nicosia and Kyrenia Municipalities, discussions have taken place to establish a framework for inspections.

As a result of complaints received by the KTTB, two establishments, a beauty salon and a beauty center operating without the required permits, were subjected to joint inspections by the Kyrenia Police Department Forensic Branch Teams, Girne Municipality Health Branch Directorate, and municipal police teams. During the inspections, filling and botox materials used for aesthetic purposes were confiscated, and both businesses were fined and forced to close down by the municipality authorities.

In addition, legal action has been taken against the owner of the beauty salon for performing filling and botox procedures on patients without being a qualified physician. The relevant authorities will investigate the procurement and authenticity of the materials used by contacting pharmaceutical warehouses and the Pharmaceuticals and Pharmacy Department.

The KTTB emphasized the importance of seeking medical interventions only from registered physicians. They also urged physicians performing interventions to ensure their registration with the association and residency in the country. The consequences of not having an intervening physician in case of any complications can lead to serious grievances and health issues, stressing the need for caution and adherence to proper medical practices.

The KTTB expressed their gratitude to the collaborating police and municipality teams for their cooperation in these inspections. They concluded by urging the public to prioritize their well-being and to always seek medical interventions from qualified and registered professionals.
