Meet the Hungarian Mascot of the Osaka World Expo

Hungarian Pavilion introduces Miska at the Osaka World Expo

The Hungarian Pavilion at the Osaka World Expo has a new host named Miska, who pays homage to Hungarian folk traditions while incorporating the modern Japanese kawaii style. According to the Expo 2025 Hungary Facebook page, Miska is inspired by the famous miska jug, a symbol of Hungarian culture for centuries.

The human-headed wine jar with a hat, once used to serve wine at special occasions, has become a symbol of community experience and tradition preservation. Miska guides visitors through the Hungarian Pavilion in a two-dimensional version on the walls of the corridors and in three dimensions at the wine bar named after him. His female counterpart, Mariska, is also available at the Expo’s souvenir shop.

The Osaka World Expo, taking place from April 13 to October 13, 2025, will feature participation from approximately 161 countries and 9 international organizations. The central theme, “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” focuses on creating a more sustainable future society. Hungary’s presence at the Expo will align with and contribute to this vision.

For more information, you can visit the official Expo 2025 page. Don’t miss the opportunity to meet Miska and experience the unique blend of Hungarian and Japanese culture at the Osaka World Expo.
