Cevdet Yılmaz: The Accomplished Turkish Vice President
Cevdet Yılmaz, the current Vice President of Turkey, is a man with an impressive track record in politics. Born in Bingöl in 1967, Yılmaz graduated first in his class from the Department of Public Administration at METU. He went on to earn a master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Denver in the US, and a doctorate in Political Science and Public Administration from Bilkent University.
Yılmaz has held various high-ranking positions in the Turkish government, including serving as the Prime Ministry SPO Undersecretariat and the General Directorate of Relations with the EU. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the National Agency, ATAUM, and Sümer Halı.
As a member of parliament, Yılmaz represented Bingöl in the 23rd, 24th, 26th, and 27th terms, and Diyarbakır in the 25th term. He was also the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (PAB) Turkish Group. Yılmaz served as the Minister of State in the 60th government, and as the Minister of Development in the 61st, 62nd, and 64th governments. He held the position of Deputy Prime Minister in the 63rd government. In November 2020, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Planning and Budget Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
In addition to his political achievements, Yılmaz is also fluent in English. He is married and has two children.
