Turkish Military’s International Operations Extended in Central Africa
The Turkish military’s international activities continue to make an impact in various regions, from the Middle East to Africa. One such significant deployment is the presence of Mehmetçik in Central Africa as part of the United Nations’ Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission since 2016.

Recently, a Presidential memorandum was presented to the Parliament to extend the term of the Turkish Armed Forces’ duty in Central Africa under the United Nations mission. After thorough discussions, the motion was accepted by the majority of Members of Parliament. As a result, the duty period of the Turkish military in Central Africa has been extended for another year.
This decision underscores Turkey’s commitment to contributing to global peacekeeping efforts and highlights the country’s active role in promoting stability and security in different parts of the world.
