
Message from Hatipoğlu on World Day for Combating Drug Abuse

Teyfide Tecel Hatipoğlu, the Head of the Prime Ministry Anti-Drug Commission, delivered a message on the occasion of “World Day for Combating Drug Abuse”, highlighting the commission’s commitment to providing psychological and social support to individuals struggling with addiction and their families. Hatipoğlu emphasized the importance of bringing these individuals back to life.
In a statement issued by the commission, it was emphasized that the United Nations General Assembly has made a resolution in 1987 to achieve a drug-free society and strengthen international cooperation in combating drug use. As a result, June 26th has been designated as the “International Day for Combating Drug Use and Smuggling”.
The Prime Ministry Anti-Drug Commission has been organizing cultural, social, artistic, and sports activities for many years to raise awareness about drug addiction among the public.
Teyfide Tecel Hatipoğlu, the Chairman of the Prime Ministry Anti-Drug Commission, expressed concerns about the risks faced by children, adolescents, and young people in terms of drug use. She emphasized the commission’s efforts in preventive work and highlighted the various programs and initiatives carried out in cooperation with psychologists, recovery consultants, employees, and volunteers. Hatipoğlu mentioned seminars addressing drug addiction, internet use, computer games, gambling, alcohol addictions, and emphasized the importance of providing 24/7 psychological support through the Alo 1191 Addiction Counseling and Support line.
Furthermore, Hatipoğlu stressed that the Prime Ministry Anti-Drug Commission supports individuals struggling with addiction by offering psychosocial support programs and alternative activities at the Social Cohesion Center. The commission also provides assistance to individuals and families who seek help to overcome their addiction, with prevention efforts being carried out under the Neighborhood Mothers (MANNE PROJECT).
In cases where addiction occurs, the commission continues to offer support to individuals of all ages through the ALO 1191 Information and Support line.
Hatipoğlu concluded by expressing the commission’s goal of bringing individuals with addiction problems and their families back to life through psychological and social support. She expressed joy in witnessing individuals who have successfully overcome their addictions and started a new life. The commission has helped many people overcome substance abuse problems and empowered them to live a life free from addiction.
