Meteorology Department Director Güneş forecasts rainy weather for Monday

Meteorology Department Director Sinan Gunes has announced that the last days of rainfall in the country are expected to be effective once again. As we head into the new week, temperatures are also expected to increase.

In a statement to the Turkish Agency Cyprus (TAK) reporter, Sinan Güneş discussed the recent rainfall and upcoming weather forecasts.

Sinan Gunes noted that after a period of rainfall in the north coastal and Beşparmaklar region, there has been a lack of expected rainfall. He emphasized that there has been a wave of cold weather significantly below seasonal norms.

The Director of the Meteorology Department reported that on February 10-11, severe rainfall was recorded in the Beylerbeyi region and measured at 87 kilograms, while Tashkent and Bosphorus received 57-58 kilograms of rainfall. There were also reports of strong rainfall in the eastern parts on February 11-12, with Sipahi and Erenköy experiencing the highest rainfall at 42 kilograms in Sipahi. Recent rainfall has caused damages in agricultural areas due to full rainfall in some regions.

The current rainy weather is expected to end today, and the air is expected to clear up in the afternoon. However, the region will be under the influence of a high-pressure system for the next 3 days, leading to cloudy and partly cloudy weather on Friday and Saturday. By Monday, another rainy system is expected to affect the region, with rainfall continuing until Thursday.

Director Güneş also mentioned that a slight increase in air temperature ranging from 17-20 degrees is expected in the coming week. Looking ahead to March and April, temperatures are predicted to be around 19 degrees in March and 1-2 degrees above normal in April. Rainfall is expected to be slightly above normal in the northern coastal-beşparmaklar region in March, while remaining below seasonal norms.

Citizens are advised to stay updated on weather reports and follow daily warnings provided by the Meteorological Department.
