Meteorology Issues Flash Warning for Marmara – Yellow Alarm Includes Istanbul
MGM Istanbul Regional Forecasting and Early Warning Center has issued a statement warning of strong thunderstorms in the Marmara Region, particularly in Istanbul, Kocaeli, Sakarya, Edirne, Kırklareli, Tekirdağ, and Yalova. Authorities have advised people to be vigilant against flash floods, floods, lightning strikes, and transportation disruptions. Dust transport is also expected in Marmara and Coastal Aegean.
The northwestern parts of the country are expected to be partly cloudy in some areas, while the Marmara region, Inner Aegean, and Lakes Region are predicted to experience rains and thunderstorms. Temperature is estimated to increase by 2 to 4 degrees throughout the nation and is expected to be above seasonal normals in western areas, around the seasonal normals in other places. Wind is expected to blow lightly, occasionally with medium strength from the north and east directions.
The statement also highlighted a yellow alarm for 16 cities, including Istanbul, today. The list of cities under yellow alarm includes Bursa, Edirne, Istanbul, Kirklareli, Kocaeli, Sakarya, Tekirdag, and Yalova. Tomorrow, the yellow alarm will extend to 16 cities, including Afyonkarahisar, Ankara, Bolu, Bursa, Edirne, Eskisehir, Istanbul, Kirklareli, Kocaeli, Kutahya, Manisa, Sakarya, Tekirdag, Usak, Yalova, and Düzce.
