Tragedy Strikes as Bering Air Plane Crashes in Alaska, All 10 Onboard Passengers Dead
US officials have confirmed that all ten people onboard a Bering Air plane that crashed in Alaska have tragically lost their lives. The wreckage of the plane was discovered on the sea ice in Alaska, with the bodies of the victims retrieved by a team from the US Coast Guard.
The Bering Air aircraft went missing before reaching Nome, a remote coastal city in Alaska, with all ten individuals, including the pilot, aboard the ill-fated flight. Lieutenant Ben Endres from the Alaska State Police stated that all those who perished in the crash were adults and that the flight was a regularly planned suburban expedition.
The Alaska Public Security Department reported that the turboprop Cessna Caravan belonging to Bering Air vanished with nine passengers and a pilot on board. The NOME Fire Department previously mentioned on Facebook that the pilot had intended to enter a holding pattern until the runway was cleared, but air traffic controllers in Anchorage had no updated information on the plane’s whereabouts.
Flight Tracking Service Flightradar24 indicated that the last known position of the aircraft was over the sea approximately 40 minutes after takeoff. The Coast Guard dispatched a C-130 aircraft to locate the missing plane.
