Milanovic wins second term as President of Croatia, according to exit polls

Zoran Milanovic Re-elected as President in Croatia
After the polls closed at 19:00 local time in Croatia, exit polls conducted by Ipsos research company revealed that Zoran Milanovic had been elected president for the second time with 50.74 percent of the votes in the first round.
Upon hearing the results, Milanovic took to his social media account to express his gratitude, simply stating, “Thank you.” It was evident from the exit polls that Milanovic’s biggest rival, former Minister of Education Dragan Primorac, candidate of the ruling center-right Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), trailed behind in second place with 19.04 percent of the votes.
Other candidates also fell short, with independent candidate Marija Selak Raspudic receiving 9.27 percent of the votes, Ivana Kekin from the “Mozemo” alliance at 8.76 percent, Tomislav Jonjic at 3.90 percent, Miro Bulj from the “Most” alliance at 3.67 percent, Branka Lozo from the Homeland and National Rally Party at 2.47 percent, and Niko Tokic with 0.89 percent.
Milanovic, who is known for his outspoken statements and clashes with HDZ Chairman and Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, had previously stated, “Plenkovic, we know that you pose a threat to the democracy of the country. Say goodbye to the name you nominated.” With his re-election, it is clear that Milanovic has secured another term as president of Croatia.
