Minimum Wage Meeting Scheduled for Friday; Union Halts Protest – BRTK

The Free Trade Unions Federation (Hür-İş Federation) has announced that they have received a letter from the Ministry of Labor and Social Security requesting a meeting of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission at the ministry on Friday. This news comes after the union had planned to protest in front of the ministry tomorrow.

Hür-İş President Ahmet Serdaroğlu stated that the union had originally planned to protest after the 24-hour period they had given to the ministry to collect the minimum wage table had expired. However, with the Ministry taking action by sending a letter for the commission to meet on Friday, the union has decided to suspend their protest.

The meeting is scheduled to take place at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security building at 09:30 on Friday. As a result, the planned protest in front of the ministry at 11:00 tomorrow has been called off by Hür-İş.

This development marks a significant step towards discussing and determining the minimum wage in the country, and the union is hopeful for a positive outcome from the upcoming commission meeting.
