Minister Ataoğlu criticizes Greek leadership’s attacks on housing sector in TRNC
Greek Leadership Condemned for Hostile Attitude Towards Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus
Fikri Ataoğlu, Chairman of the Democratic Party (DP), Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment, has spoken out against the Greek leadership for their uncompromising stance on Cyprus, which has led to hostile actions towards the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
In a recent statement, Ataoğlu criticized the Greek Cypriots for their attacks on the TRNC, emphasizing that such actions will not be tolerated. He assured that the Presidency and the government, in coordination with Turkey, will take necessary measures to protect investors in the TRNC and safeguard their interests.
Ataoğlu emphasized that any solution to the property issue must come through a holistic agreement between the two states or through the Immovable Property Commission, as recognized by the European Court of Human Rights. He warned that the Greek side’s hostile actions only serve to further divide the two communities in Cyprus.
The DP Chairman also called on the European Union (EU) and the United Nations (UN) to intervene and address the escalating tensions caused by the Greek Cypriot leadership’s actions. He criticized the international community for remaining passive in the face of unjust practices that undermine efforts for peace and stability in the region.
Ataoğlu urged EU and UN officials to take a more realistic and fair approach to the Cyprus issue, emphasizing the need to acknowledge the existence of two communities and two states on the island. He called for an end to the bias towards the Greek Cypriot Administration and a more active role in promoting a just and sustainable solution for all parties involved.
The ongoing tensions in Cyprus highlight the need for diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation and work towards a peaceful resolution that respects the rights and interests of all parties involved.
