Minister Bak’s Promise: Enhancing Service in Kahramanmaraş

Youth and Sports Minister, Osman Askin Bak, recently made a visit to Kahramanmaras, the epicenter of a recent earthquake. During his visit, Minister Bak held a press conference at the AK Party Provincial Presidency, where he discussed the role of the Credit and Hostels Institution in times of disasters such as earthquakes, floods, and fires.
Minister Bak highlighted the institution’s efforts in hosting citizens during the pandemic, stating that they had provided accommodation for 140,000 citizens. He also mentioned their involvement in disaster situations, such as the fire in Çanakkale, where citizens were brought back to the dormitories. In addition, the institution served public personnel working in Bartın and the surrounding provinces.
During the earthquake, the dormitories hosted nearly 300,000 citizens, and currently, there are approximately 60,000 guests in dormitories all over Turkey. However, Minister Bak mentioned that three dormitories in Kahramanmaras were damaged, and they are now exploring new areas to build new and safe dormitories.
Speaking about their collaboration with the university, Minister Bak discussed the establishment of sports facilities in earthquake-prone areas. These facilities served as gathering areas for container and tent cities during difficult times, providing shelter, logistics support, and even social markets.
Minister Bak emphasized their commitment to continue working in the earthquake zone, addressing the damages and problems that need to be resolved. They are actively searching for suitable locations to build new dormitories with a modular structure, in line with the instructions from President Erdogan. Various ministries are involved in monitoring and managing the processes related to their respective areas.
In addition to constructing new dormitories, Minister Bak mentioned their plans to repair existing facilities, complete any deficiencies, and create better, more modern accommodations in the region. They are dedicated to healing the wounds caused by the earthquake and serving the community.
The Minister’s visit and his commitment to addressing the challenges faced by the earthquake-stricken region highlight the government’s efforts to support citizens during times of crisis. The Credit and Hostels Institution’s role in providing accommodation and assistance during disasters demonstrates their importance in ensuring the well-being of citizens across the country.
