Minister Bayraktar Announces the Latest on the Erzincan Landslide

Rescue Mission Continues for Trapped Miners in Erzincan
Efforts are still ongoing to rescue workers trapped underground in a mine in Erzincan. Metal-sensitive drones capable of imaging up to 30 meters below the surface are being utilized in the search operations.
A total of 1708 individuals, including 339 search and rescue personnel from various organizations such as AFAD, TSK Search and Rescue, JAK, PAK, UMKE, as well as miners and non-governmental organizations, are involved in the search efforts. These operations are being carried out round the clock, with the support of 626 vehicles, 97 lighting towers, 32 work machines, 6 drones, 44 generators, 3 CBRN vehicles, and 5 metal-sensitive radar devices.
Specialist teams from the General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration are working tirelessly to determine the location of the containers and vehicles believed to be inside the mine with the help of the metal-sensitive drones. Once the workers’ location is identified, the teams plan to further intensify their search and rescue efforts in that specific area.
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar has revealed that the landslide area contains a mass of soil equivalent to 400 thousand trucks. The minister also mentioned that a legal process is underway and that responsible individuals are being held accountable.
The tragic incident occurred on February 13 in the area where the gold mine is located in Çöpler village of İliç, leading to the disappearance of nine workers. An investigation has been launched to address this devastating situation.
