Diplomacy in Action: Minister Bayraktar’s Intensive Talks at the Istanbul Natural Resources Summit
Minister Alparslan Bayraktar has engaged in a series of high-level discussions at the "Istanbul Natural Resources Summit," focusing on energy cooperation and infrastructure with multiple countries.
In a notable meeting, Bayraktar spoke with Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Oil Minister Hayyan Abdulgani regarding ongoing projects in oil and natural gas. The two discussed vital elements including production, transmission, and the prospects for further cooperation in these critical sectors.
Bayraktar also met with Moldova’s Energy Minister, Dorin Junghietu, where the primary discussions revolved around energy supply security and enhancing natural gas infrastructure. The minister highlighted the importance of renewable energy and smart grid technologies, underlining the potential for collaborative projects to support Moldova’s energy transformation process.
Addressing the meeting with Niger’s Mining Minister Ousmane Abarchi, Bayraktar reiterated the significance of sustainable partnerships in Africa, stressing the need to develop comprehensive strategies based on an agreement signed last year.

Further emphasizing the aim of fostering regional stability, Syrian Energy Minister Muhammad al-Beşir reported a productive discussion with Bayraktar. They explored technical support for enhancing electricity and natural gas infrastructure amid Syria’s post-conflict recovery. Bayraktar expressed Turkey’s readiness for constructive cooperation to help meet the basic energy needs of the Syrian population.
Additionally, in talks with Libyan Industry and Mines Minister Ahmed Ali Abu Heyse, opportunities for collaboration in mining, industrial infrastructure, and technology transfer were evaluated. Bayraktar noted that these efforts would contribute significantly to the sustainable development of Libya’s vast underground resources.
