Minister Bilgin announces last-minute minimum wage update

Minister of Labor and Social Security, Vedat Bilgin, recently made statements highlighting the importance of political contribution to the future of Türkiye. Bilgin, who previously served as an Ankara deputy, emphasized the evaluation of the will of the nation in the recent election, which resulted in a 14-point difference between the People’s Alliance and the Nation’s Alliance.

Bilgin reiterated the importance of a social state and the responsibility of the ministry to protect workers, citing the steps taken by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in the Republican era. He also announced plans to increase the minimum wage and spoke about the White Flag program, which offers privileges to workplaces that meet certain criteria, including no insurance premium debt and no employer income tax debt.

Regarding inflation in Türkiye, Bilgin identified increased input costs, particularly energy prices, as the major contributing factor. However, he stated that inflation is now under control and will continue to decrease as world energy prices fall and Türkiye’s ability to produce its own energy increases.

Bilgin also discussed plans to establish a bank specifically for women, offering them positive privileges and resources. He expressed the importance of stability in Türkiye and emphasized the need for President Erdogan to continue providing leadership in this area.

Finally, Bilgin shared his disappointment in the decision of Umit Ozdag to leave the party founded by Atatürk and join an alliance with political spokespersons such as the PKK-PYD. He proposed a salary restructure for teachers and argued for higher salaries for academics, particularly assistants.
