Minister Bolat: Our People Teach a Lesson to Boycotters – Latest Updates

Trade Minister Omer Bolat has expressed his frustration with calls for “shopping and stopping trade” and “boycotts” by the main opposition party CHP and various groups on Wednesday, April 2, during a TRT News broadcast.
Minister Bolat emphasized that the calls for boycotting trade and the economy were an attempt by certain circles to divert attention from the bribery and corruption scandals surrounding CHP municipalities. However, the people of Turkey responded by participating in shopping activities on that day, effectively doubling the amount of card transactions compared to the previous day.
According to data from the Interbank Card Center (BKM), card transactions on April 2 increased significantly, reaching 28 billion TL compared to 14 billion TL on April 1. Minister Bolat noted that the total volume of card transactions for April 7-8 will also indicate the success of this response to the boycott calls.
The Minister also highlighted the strong support from citizens, businesses, and the government in promoting national economy and trade. He commended the public for their solidarity and determination to push back against efforts to disrupt the economy.
In conclusion, Minister Bolat reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing trade and economic growth, emphasizing the need for unity and cooperation to overcome challenges. He stated that those who seek to undermine the country’s economy will continue to face defeat, while the Turkish people will continue to stand together to achieve prosperity.
