
Minister Bolat Reveals: 71,000 Companies Fined 960 Million TL in 7 Months

Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat recently attended a Consultation Meeting with Business World and Civil Society Organizations in Kayseri, where he discussed various aspects of the country’s trade policies and enforcement measures. During his speech at the event, Minister Bolat highlighted the importance of managing trade at customs, ensuring fair competition in imports, and cracking down on fraudulent practices in international trade.
With a focus on protecting domestic industries and promoting national production, Minister Bolat emphasized the role of the General Directorate of Customs and General Directorate of Customs Enforcement in monitoring imports and exports. He also stressed the government’s commitment to taking necessary measures against unfair trade practices that harm local businesses.
In addition to addressing trade-related issues, Minister Bolat provided an update on the Ministry’s efforts to regulate various sectors and combat deceptive practices in the market. He noted that over 71 thousand companies were penalized with 960 million TL in the first 7 months of the year, indicating a strong stance against violations in the business sector.
Reflecting on the challenges faced by the Turkish economy in recent years, Minister Bolat acknowledged the impact of global events such as the Russia-Ukraine war and the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite these challenges, he expressed confidence in the government’s ability to overcome economic obstacles and achieve growth targets outlined in the Medium Term Program.
During the meeting, AK Party Deputy Chairman Mustafa Elitaş praised the government’s achievements under President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s leadership, highlighting the unprecedented advancements made in various sectors. He emphasized the importance of national unity and collaboration in addressing future challenges and continuing the country’s development trajectory.
The event was also attended by local officials including Kayseri Governor Gökmen Çiçek, Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Memduh Büyükkılıç, as well as representatives from the business community such as the Kayseri Chamber of Commerce President Ömer Gülsoy and Kayseri Chamber of Industry President Mehmet Büyüksimitci. Overall, the Consultation Meeting served as a platform for discussing key issues related to trade, market regulations, and economic growth in Turkey.
