Turkish and Greek Ministers Discuss Cultural Cooperation in Athens
Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, and Minister of Culture and Sports of Greece, Lina Mendoni, recently met in Athens to discuss bilateral cultural cooperation between the two countries. The meeting took place following the positive atmosphere created by the recent meetings between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
During their visit, the two ministers visited the Acropolis Museum and emphasized the common cultural heritage shared by Turkey and Greece. Minister Ersoy stated, “With each visit, awareness of our common culture increases. The recent meetings between our leaders have significantly improved Turkish-Greek relations.”
The ministers also discussed the impact of cooperation in the field of tourism on enhancing people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. They agreed to increase cultural activities and take steps to further strengthen cultural ties in a short period.
In the evening, Ersoy and Mendoni attended a performance of “Romeo and Juliet” at the Megaro Music Culture and Art Center, featuring Turkish and Greek artists. The play, performed in Turkish, English, and Greek, will continue to be staged until May 19, allowing art lovers to experience this joint cultural production.
