Minister Ertuğruloğlu Joins AA’s “Shots of the Year” Vote
TRNC Minister of Foreign Affairs Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu Participates in “Shots of the Year” Voting
Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), recently participated in the “Shots of the Year” voting organized by Anadolu Agency (AA). This voting included a selection of photographs that captured the significant events of 2023 as seen through the lens of AA photojournalists and correspondents.
Ertuğruloğlu reviewed a total of 147 photographs in various categories, which included “News”, “Environment-Life”, and “Sports”. Additionally, specific categories such as “Earthquake: Hope” and “Gaza: Evidence” were added for this year’s event.
Among the selected photographs, Ertuğruloğlu voted for a variety of impactful images, including “The future is in the skies” by Ali Atmaca in the “News” category, Emin Sansar’s “In the presence of Ata” in the “Environment-Life” category, and “Sultans of the World” taken by Dursun Aydemir in the “Sports” category. In the special categories, Ertuğruloğlu chose Aytuğ Can Sencer’s “Hope of the earthquake” and Ashraf Amra’s “Stay with me, mom” for “Earthquake: Hope” and “Gaza: Evidence” respectively.
Following the voting process, Minister Ertuğruloğlu expressed his thoughts on the photographs, emphasizing their impact and the difficulty of viewing the images in the “Gaza: Evidence” category. He praised the photographers, stating that each image told a compelling story, and commended the annual event organized by Anadolu Agency.
He also highlighted the importance of capturing and preserving significant moments through photography and expressed his satisfaction in being able to contribute to the event by selecting the most impactful frames.
The Minister’s participation in the “Shots of the Year” voting not only highlights the visual storytelling of important events throughout the year but also underscores the appreciation for the work of dedicated photojournalists and their ability to convey powerful narratives through their images.
