Minister Gardiyanoğlu’s Statement on Minimum Wage Meeting – BRTK

Minister of Labor and Social Security Sadık Gardiyanoğlu recently addressed the press following a meeting with the Minimum Wage Determination Commission. Despite his efforts to reach a unanimous decision, Gardiyanoğlu shared that the majority vote decided to maintain the previously set figure.
During the meeting, Gardiyanoğlu highlighted that the employer side did not propose any specific figure or percentage for the minimum wage increase, expressing their disapproval of the decision. On the other hand, Hür-İş President Ahmet Serdaroğlu, representing the workers’ side at the meeting, voiced disagreement with the objections raised by the employers.
Serdaroğlu emphasized the presence of a vicious circle in the current situation and emphasized the importance of addressing the root causes of the issue. He pointed to government actions and tax amnesties as key elements contributing to the problem at hand.
The differences in viewpoints between the employer and worker representatives indicate a challenging road ahead in reaching a consensus on the minimum wage issue. As discussions continue, it remains crucial for all parties involved to work towards a sustainable solution that addresses the concerns of both employers and workers in the labor market.
