Minister Göktaş Highlights the Importance of Women’s Cooperatives in Bursa
Minister Göktaş recently spoke at a program titled “To a Strong Future with Our Women’s Cooperatives” at the Merinos Atatürk Congress and Culture Center in Bursa. During his speech, he emphasized the crucial role women play in society, describing them as a strong bond that holds families together.
Acknowledging the impact of women in raising confident and healthy individuals, Minister Göktaş stated that women are key to a country’s ability to look confidently towards the future. He emphasized that a strong nation is built on a society empowered by its women, who contribute value to various aspects of life, including social, political, and economic realms.
Minister Göktaş also highlighted the significant economic contributions made by women to the country’s development and growth. He explained that efforts are ongoing to enhance women’s visibility in all areas and increase their participation in decision-making processes. Under the leadership of the President, initiatives have been implemented to protect women’s rights and improve their well-being, with a focus on promoting equality in the workplace.
Over the past 22 years, female labor force participation has increased from 28% to 36%, and the employment rate for women has risen from 25.3% to 31.4%. Looking ahead, the goal is to further boost female labor force participation and employment rates by 2028 through various programs and support mechanisms tailored to women’s needs.
Minister Göktaş stressed the importance of expanding institutions that provide care and education services for children aged 0-3, aiming to create a better balance between home and work life for women across the country.
Furthermore, efforts to strengthen women’s cooperatives have been a key focus area. Minister Göktaş highlighted the establishment of over 1000 new women’s cooperatives, emphasizing the importance of providing support for women to enter the market and expand their businesses. Various projects and initiatives are underway to empower women entrepreneurs and enhance their capabilities in various sectors.
The Minister concluded by expressing commitment to continue working with local authorities and stakeholders to further strengthen women’s cooperatives in Bursa and across the country. Through collaboration and cooperation, the aim is to build a brighter future for women and for Turkey as a whole.
