Minister Göktaş Praises Women’s Success in Business at Türkevi event in the USA
Family and Social Services Minister Mahinur Ozdemir Goktas emphasized the importance of supporting women in business life through policies that strengthen their position. Minister Goktas stated that the 12th Development Plan serves as a roadmap for this purpose, outlining the government’s goals to increase women’s participation in the labor force and employment rates by the end of 2028.
During an iftar program at the Hepsiburada Türkevi in New York, Minister Goktas highlighted the significance of women’s entrepreneurship in driving social development, economic growth, and shaping social transformation. He emphasized the success of women in the business world and their vital contributions to society and the economy.
Minister Goktas announced ambitious targets to raise the rate of women’s participation in the labor force to 40.1 percent and employment rates to 36.2 percent by 2028. He underscored the role of women entrepreneurship in empowering women economically and providing equal opportunities.
The Minister also highlighted the importance of e-commerce in encouraging women’s entrepreneurship and providing them with flexible working conditions to balance between work and family life. He expressed his commitment to ensuring gender equality in the economy through new opportunities presented by e-commerce.
Moreover, Minister Goktas emphasized the collaboration between the Ministry and Hepsiburada, which aims to include thousands of women in the e-commerce ecosystem through programs like ‘Entrepreneur Women of Türkiye.’ He mentioned initiatives like the ‘Hobin Work’ project, which supports women in entrepreneurship by transforming their hobbies into work.
In his speech, Hepsiburada CEO Nilhan Onal Gokcetekin highlighted the company’s efforts to empower women entrepreneurs through digitalization. He mentioned the ‘Technology Power for Entrepreneur Women’ program, which has already guided 62 thousand women through digital transformation and aims to reach 120 thousand women by 2030.
The partnership between the Ministry and Hepsiburada seeks to provide women entrepreneurs with access to technology, education, and financial support to help them grow their businesses. Minister Goktas and CEO Gokcetekin expressed their commitment to furthering women’s entrepreneurship and digitalization hand in hand.
