Minister Kirişci Promotes Regional Growth Through Irrigation Projects
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Vahit Kirişci recently visited the Islahiye District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry in Gaziantep to examine the Kilavuzlu irrigation line project. The project, which passes through Gaziantep’s Nurdağı and İslahiye Districts, will irrigate 1 million decares of land and create employment for 120 people in addition to a net income of 5.5 billion TL.
The project includes facilities for irrigation and energy purposes, addressing the provinces of Kahramanmaraş, Gaziantep, and Hatay. A total of 8.5 billion TL has been spent on the facilities out of a total project cost of 23 billion TL.
In addition to the Kilavuzlu project, Kirişci also discussed the guided irrigation line project, which plans to irrigate 151,000 decares of agricultural land and create employment for 16,000 people. The final part of the project will be completed in 2024, with a net income increase of 439 million TL.
Kirişci emphasized the economic value and employment opportunities that these irrigation projects will bring to the region, and stated that all the money spent on these projects will now turn into benefits.
