Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum Visits Adıyaman
Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum recently arrived in Adıyaman, a province that was heavily impacted by the earthquakes that occurred on February 6, 2023. Upon his arrival, Minister Kurum was warmly welcomed by Adıyaman Governor Osman Varol, AK Party Deputy İshak Şan, Mayor Abdurrahman Tutdere, Adıyaman University Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Keleş, and other local administrators.
During his visit, Minister Kurum first visited the governor’s office to receive updates on the ongoing work in the city. Tomorrow, he is scheduled to inspect the disaster housing and on-site transformation projects currently under construction in Adıyaman.
At a Disaster Coordination Meeting, Minister Kurum expressed his commitment to ensuring the reconstruction and revitalization efforts in the earthquake-affected areas. He praised the collaborative efforts of the local government, municipal authorities, NGOs, and citizens in making significant progress towards healing the wounds of those affected by the earthquakes.
Minister Kurum announced, “We will continue to develop Adıyaman in all aspects. Our goal is to restore the historical and social fabric of our city, and by 2025, we aim to bring back its former vibrancy.”
The Minister highlighted the delivery of 4,500 houses in the city center and the initiation of construction for an additional 39,500 houses in rural areas. He emphasized the importance of completing these projects promptly and addressing any outstanding issues to ensure the successful revitalization of Adıyaman by the set target year.
In conclusion, Minister Kurum reiterated his commitment to restoring Adıyaman’s vitality and expressed confidence in achieving the ambitious goal of revitalizing the city by 2025.
