Minister of Justice of Turkey Yılmaz Tunç Visits Minister of Internal Affairs Dursun Oğuz and Discusses Mutual Cooperation
The Minister of Justice of the Republic of Turkey, Yılmaz Tunç, and his accompanying delegation recently visited Minister of Internal Affairs Dursun Oğuz. During the visit, they were accompanied by Metin Feyzioğlu, the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Nicosia.
Minister Dursun Oğuz expressed his satisfaction with the visit, highlighting their previous meeting in Turkey and expressing their commitment to enhancing cooperation between the two countries. He also acknowledged and thanked Minister Tunç for his meaningful message of support for the Champion Angels who lost their lives in the February 6 earthquake.
Minister Oğuz emphasized the significance of Turkey following the case closely, stating that the families of the victims find comfort in the pursuit of justice. He also highlighted the importance of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in this process and thanked Minister Tunç for his close interest in the matter.
Minister Tunç, on the other hand, expressed his condolences for the tragic loss of lives in the February 6 earthquake, describing it as a heartbreaking pain. He emphasized the efforts made by the Ministry of Justice in response to the earthquake, including dispatching judicial officers to the affected region and collecting evidence for efficient investigations.
Regarding the upcoming hearing for the Isias Hotel case, Minister Tunç encouraged trust in the Turkish judiciary to make the right decisions and ensure justice for the victims. He also discussed the bilateral judicial cooperation between Turkey and the TRNC, underscoring the shared responsibility in advocating for the rights and independence of the Turkish Cypriot people.
Minister Tunç concluded by expressing hope that such suffering would not be repeated in the future, emphasizing the commitment to strengthening the relationship between Turkey and the TRNC. He reassured ongoing support for the TRNC’s national cause and underscored the importance of its observer member status in the Organization of Turkish States.
