Minister Soylu announces 2.3 million participants in Narko Nokta project

Turkey’s Interior Minister and AK Party Istanbul 2nd Region Deputy Candidate, Süleyman Soylu, recently spoke at a program organized to honor the ‘best narcotics police mother’ in Fatih. The event was attended by numerous women and took place in a private hotel. During the program, Soylu greeted each participant individually and thanked them for their efforts in fighting drug trafficking.

In his speech, Soylu mentioned that Turkey has completed the establishment of its narcotics teams in all 81 provinces. The teams aim to cut the link between street vendors and drug addicts by implementing a field control project in 20 provinces, which marks the first time such a project has been initiated in Turkey. Wastewater analysis is also being conducted in 65 provinces to monitor drug use and its changes every three months.

Turkey is also using manned and unmanned aerial vehicles to remotely detect drug cultivation areas and has achieved significant efficiency from its border walls. The government has developed a mobile phone application called ‘Sleep’ that allows citizens to report drugs anonymously, with 600,000 downloads and over 53 thousand notices received so far. There are also 191 anti-drug hotlines and support lines that have received over 308,000 calls and support requests since 2018.

Soylu also shared information about a terrorist who was neutralized in Diyarbakir during an operation. He emphasized that the fight against terrorism is integral to the fight against drugs, as the PKK dominates the entire European drug market. Soylu also highlighted that the government has reached a total of 2 million mothers with its trainings, especially within the ‘best narcotics police mother’ program. The program brought together 1 million 693 thousand mothers since its inception, and the ‘Narko point’ education project reached 2 million 376 thousand participants last year. The government is employing a comprehensive approach to combat drug supply and demand, education, and prevention.

In conclusion, Soylu expressed his gratitude to the participants and emphasized the importance of their work in combating drugs. He urged citizens to report any drug-related activities through the available channels.
