Interior Minister Criticizes Istanbul Mayor’s Actions in Election Campaign
Interior Minister and 2nd Region Deputy Candidate Süleyman Soylu has criticized Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğlu’s rally in Van during a program held in Eyüpsultan Yeşilpınar District. In his speech, Soylu questioned İmamoğlu’s accomplishments during his four-year term as mayor of Istanbul and accused him of traveling around Turkey to confuse people.
Soylu also criticized İmamoğlu’s handling of the public transportation system in Istanbul, claiming that he failed to provide basic necessities like electricity for subway escalators and buses. He also accused İmamoğlu of giving contracts to his own men.
Solyu went on to criticize the HDP and PKK, who he claimed were gathering under flags and sending greetings to Selo at a rally in Van. He questioned whether people should trust such leaders for Turkey’s future.
Soylu noted that he had been serving as the Minister of Interior for seven years and claimed that under his leadership, people could sleep peacefully in areas once dominated by terrorists, such as the Kato Mountains, Gabar Mountains, Namaz Mountains, and Tendürek Mountains.
Overall, Soylu’s speech was critical of the Istanbul mayor’s actions during the election campaign, calling into question his leadership and achievements.
