Minister Tunç Ensures Equal Justice in Forensic Medicine
Minister of Justice Yilmaz Tunc Emphasizes the Importance of Forensic Medicine in Upholding Justice
During the 19th International Forensic Medicine Days Meeting held at the Antalya Education and Social Facility of the Foundation for Strengthening Justice Organization (ATGV), Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc highlighted the crucial role of forensic medicine in the pursuit of truth and justice. Minister Tunc stated that forensic medicine plays a vital role in shedding light on the truth and ensuring that justice is served.
Minister Tunc expressed his commitment to reform and stated that the Ministry of Justice has been working diligently to prepare the Turkey Century Judicial Reform Strategy Document and the Turkey Century Human Rights Action Plan. He mentioned that input from members of the judiciary and experts in forensic medicine will be essential in finalizing these policy documents.
Forensic science, according to Minister Tunc, is instrumental in uncovering the truth and bringing closure to unresolved cases. He emphasized the impartiality of forensic medicine and its sole duty to discover the truth and uphold justice.
Over the past 22 years, the Ministry of Justice has made significant efforts to strengthen the Forensic Medicine Institution. Minister Tunc highlighted the increase in personnel and technological resources dedicated to forensic medicine services across the country. He also announced the expansion of specialized boards within the institution, with the addition of the “Forensic Computer Specialization Department.”
Minister Tunc stressed the importance of institutionalization in different specialized fields of forensic medicine to meet the growing demand for services. Plans are underway to increase the number of Forensic Medicine Specialization Boards and strengthen the organizational structure of the Forensic Medicine Institution.
