Minister vows not to abandon risky structure in Istanbul

Minister Murat Kurum has announced that the Turkish government will not leave a single risky building in Istanbul as part of their urban transformation efforts. Speaking at a rally in the Yavuztürk District, Kurum emphasized that Istanbul is the king of cities and the government has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of its citizens. He stated that the government has already completed the transformation of 700,000 residences in Istanbul and is currently working to transform 1.5 million more. The government is also covering half of the cost of the transformation of all risky buildings in the city. Additionally, Kurum announced that the government is also solving the problem of shared parcels which has been slowing down the pace of urban transformation. As part of this effort, the government is working to downsize multi-shareholder, large-area parcels and is transforming the Raskent and Kayıkent Building Cooperatives as part of the Half of Us Campaign. Kurum also highlighted the government’s projects in different neighborhoods of Üsküdar, such as building safe and disaster-resistant houses, offering Validebağ Grove as a public garden, and building a children’s village and a public garden. He promised to prepare Üsküdar for a much brighter future and make the best investments possible.
