Minister Yerlikaya Addresses “Newborn Gang” Investigation: 22 People Arrested

Minister Yerlikaya has spoken out about the ongoing investigation into the “newborn gang” in Istanbul, following the “Turkey’s Peace” meeting held as part of the Tekirdağ program.

The Minister revealed that the investigation was launched on May 21, 2023, under the coordination of the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. This came after an application was made to CİMER and a notification was received from the Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate. The Istanbul Police Department’s Financial Crimes Fighting Branch Directorate has since carried out a comprehensive project, which was completed on June 20, 2023.

In a recent development, Minister Tunç announced that 22 people have been arrested in connection with the case. The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Justice have also made statements regarding the issue.

The Minister reassured the public that the investigation is being carried out meticulously and from multiple angles. The matter is now in the hands of the judiciary, and the hope is for a decision that upholds justice and prevents further harm to innocent lives.

Since May, various government agencies, including the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Justice, have been working diligently to uncover the truth behind this heinous crime. The collaborative effort of prosecutors and Istanbul Financial Branch teams has shed light on the incident, and the trial process is ongoing.
