Minister Yerlikaya Announces Crackdown on 12 Drug Gangs
The Minister of Internal Affairs, Ali Yerlikaya, has announced the success of the recent “NARKOÇELİK-21” operations conducted by the Adana Police Department. According to Minister Yerlikaya, 12 separate drug crime gangs were dismantled in the last three days, resulting in the arrest of 282 suspects, with 266 of them being placed under arrest.
Minister Yerlikaya emphasized the government’s determination to eradicate drug dealers and street vendors from the country, stating that operations against drug traffickers will continue relentlessly. The coordinated efforts of the Adana Governorship, Adana Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, and the General Directorate of Security Anti-Narcotic Crimes Department were instrumental in the success of the operations.
A total of 586 teams, comprising 2,855 personnel, 10 special operations units, three aircraft, one helicopter, and 23 narcotic detection dogs, participated in the “NARKOÇELİK-21” operations. The operation resulted in the highest arrest rate in Turkey, with 266 individuals apprehended in a single operation.
Minister Yerlikaya extended his congratulations to the Adana Governorship, Adana Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, and the police officers involved in the operations, praising their dedication and commitment. He ended his statement by expressing gratitude for their service and assuring them of the nation’s support and prayers.
