Minister Yerlikaya Announces Success in Dismantling Organized Crime Group
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced a successful operation against organized crime in Istanbul, resulting in the arrest of 33 suspects. The operations, known as “KUYU-7”, targeted members of the Organized Crime Organization led by Volkan Reçber, who is currently a fugitive abroad.
Minister Yerlikaya emphasized that those who engage in criminal activities and disturb the peace of the people will face the consequences of their actions. The government is committed to dismantling organized crime organizations, regardless of their size, and bringing them to justice.
The Istanbul Provincial Police Department Anti-Organized Crime Branch Directorate, in coordination with the General Directorate of Security KOM Presidency, conducted the operations in Istanbul and Izmir. The arrested individuals are facing charges including establishing an organization to commit crimes, deliberate killing, attempted murder, and various other criminal acts.
The operations resulted in the seizure of 34 unlicensed pistols, an AK-47 Kalashnikov rifle, a ballistic vest, and an automatic weapon known as an Uzi. Minister Yerlikaya congratulated the police officers who carried out the operations, praising their dedication and bravery.
