Minister Yumaklı Announces Creation of Republic Forests in All 81 Provinces
The National Afforestation Day is celebrated on November 11th each year and this year, Republic Forests have been established in all 81 provinces in Turkey. With the slogan ‘Breath for the Future, Breath for the Republic’, the General Directorate of Forestry is working towards a greener and healthier environment.
At the ceremony held in the 100th Year Republic Forest in Ankara, Minister Yumaklı highlighted the rich history of the forestry organization and the commitment of its workers. It was announced that by the end of this year, over 7 billion saplings and seeds will be planted, demonstrating Turkey’s leading position in afforestation in Europe and globally.
Additionally, the Minister emphasized the efforts of the forestry organization in fighting recent wildfires in Turkey. He mentioned that the country has taken significant steps to rehabilitate the burned areas and declared that Turkey is the first country in Europe and the second country in the world to use unmanned aerial vehicles in these efforts.
Minister Yumaklı also commemorated National Afforestation Day by acknowledging the initiatives to plant millions of saplings and remembered the lives lost unjustly, such as the 39 babies who perished in Gaza, inspiring a call to action to prevent the loss of innocent lives.
The event concluded with General Director of Forestry Bekir Karacabey presenting Minister Yumaklı with a special painting made of pine cones in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Republic. Following the ceremony, Minister Yumaklı and the accompanying delegation planted saplings to mark this special day.
