Minister of Family and Social Services Stands up for Families of Martyrs
Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş recently visited Gaziantep and was welcomed by various officials including Governor Kemal Çeber and Metropolitan Mayor Fatma Şahin. During her visit, Minister Göktaş paid a condolence visit to the family of Infantry Specialist Sergeant Abdulkadir İyem, who was martyred in a terrorist attack in the north of Iraq on December 23.
The visit, which was also attended by Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat, took an unexpected turn when a journalist asked Minister Göktaş about her thoughts on “Can Ataklı’s statements against the families of martyrs”. Göktaş conveyed her condolences to the martyrs and wished for the recovery of the injured.
In response to the journalist’s question, Minister Göktaş expressed her solidarity with the families of martyrs and emphasized the importance of protecting their interests. She denounced any negative statements made against the families of martyrs and stated that it is the duty of the Ministry of Family and Social Services to safeguard their rights.
Furthermore, Minister Göktaş revealed that the Ministry has filed a criminal complaint against Can Ataklı for his remarks and affirmed that they will continue to defend the trusts of martyrs and put those who speak ill of them in their place.
The Minister’s strong stance in support of the families of martyrs has garnered widespread praise and reaffirms the government’s commitment to honoring the sacrifices made by these individuals.
