Ministry of Foreign Affairs Statement on Transfer and Assignment Procedure at BRTK

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has announced that a transfer and assignment procedure has been initiated in order to ensure the smooth operation of consular services and representation duties in 27 overseas units.

According to the Ministry, appointments will be made among the personnel currently working at the center, following the relevant legislation, to replace those whose terms of duty in foreign missions will expire in 2024. This process is carried out in accordance with the Foreign Affairs Department Law and the Regulation on the Procedures and Conditions of Assignment to Missions.

The Ministry emphasized that the appointments are made to ensure that consular services to citizens and foreigners are not interrupted, and that the duty of representation is fulfilled in overseas units. The non-partisan foreign policy of the state is taken into consideration during the appointment process, and the preferences of civil servants are considered as much as possible.

Civil servants who are appointed are transferred to the designated overseas units for a period not exceeding five years, in order to fulfill their duties effectively. The Ministry’s goal is to maintain a smooth and uninterrupted operation of consular services and representation duties in all overseas units.

This transfer and assignment procedure has been initiated by the Public Service Commission and the Council of Ministers, in accordance with the law and regulation. The Ministry is committed to ensuring that the necessary services are provided to both citizens and foreigners, while also meeting the requirements of its non-partisan foreign policy.
