Miracle Baby Efe Reunites with Mother After Birth at 540 Grams

Hanım Demir Eşier, a secretary from Uşak, was faced with pregnancy poisoning during her second pregnancy, which led to an emergency delivery at Izmir City Hospital. On August 4, she gave birth to her son, Efe Eşier, who weighed only 540 grams. After 130 days of treatment at Behçet Uz Pediatric Surgery Training and Research Hospital, little Efe made a remarkable recovery and is now a healthy baby weighing 3.59 kilograms.
Despite the challenging circumstances, Hanım Demir Eşier never lost hope and stayed strong for her son. She visited him weekly, expressing joy and relief every time she saw him gaining strength. The difficult journey was made easier by the dedication and care provided by the medical staff at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Prof. Dr. Tülin Gökmen Yıldırım, the Neonatal Intensive Care Clinic Manager, shed light on the condition of pregnancy poisoning, emphasizing that it is not a common occurrence. The team at Behçet Uz Children’s Hospital is committed to providing the best care possible to ensure the health and well-being of premature babies like Efe.
With a capacity of 58 beds and a team of skilled neonatologists and nurses, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Behçet Uz Children’s Hospital aims to support premature babies and help them thrive as healthy individuals. The focus remains on individualized care and development to give these babies the best chance at a bright future.
