Heavy Rainfall Causes Flooding Disaster in Kırıkkale Village
The Ahılı village in Kırıkkale experienced a devastating flood after heavy rainfall in the evening hours. The floodwaters from Kızıl Dağ caused Ahılı Creek to overflow, resulting in the collapse of the bridge and garden walls over the creek. The Tanrıverdi family, who owns a house and dairy farm in the lower part of the village, suffered significant losses as their property was submerged in the flood.
In the midst of the disaster, a young girl was swept away by the current but miraculously survived with the help of neighbors. Additionally, a mother and her child who were trapped in their house were safely evacuated by the fire department teams that quickly responded to the scene.
Local authorities took swift action to mitigate the damage caused by the flooding. Villagers were warned to seek higher ground, sewage trucks were used to drain water from affected houses and dairies, and construction equipment was deployed to reopen closed roads. The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) continues to assess the damage and provide support to the affected community.
Adem Tanrıverdi, a resident of the village, expressed the extent of the damage caused by the flood, noting the loss of crops and belongings. He also shared how his daughter narrowly escaped the floodwaters thanks to a helpful neighbor. The Village Headman, Davut Doğan, emphasized the unprecedented nature of the flood disaster and thanked the Provincial Special Administration teams for their quick response.
As the village works to recover from the devastating flood, the community remains grateful for the assistance and support provided by local authorities and neighbors during this challenging time.
