MIT foils terrorist sniper plot in Hakurk, suspect eliminated
MIT has successfully thwarted another attack planned by the PKK/KCK in Iraq. A PKK/KCK member, Serdar Sönmez, also known as Eziz Gabar, was neutralized in a pinpoint operation carried out by MIT. Sönmez was planning to launch an attack on the Turkish Armed Forces base in Hakurk, Iraq.
According to intelligence gathered by MIT field agents, Sönmez had received instructions from high-ranking PKK/KCK leaders to carry out the attack. The terrorist was planning to infiltrate the TSK’s operation area in Hakurk and conduct reconnaissance and observation activities, using a sniper rifle.
MIT closely monitored Sönmez and, after obtaining information about the time and location of the planned attack, made the decision to launch the operation. As a result, the terrorist was neutralized before he could carry out his plan.
Eziz Gabar, also known as Serdar Sönmez, joined the PKK/KCK in 2014 and received training in northern Iraq. He operated in various areas before finally targeting the Hakurk region.
This successful operation by MIT is another significant blow to the PKK/KCK terrorist organization and demonstrates Turkey’s commitment to combating terrorism.
