Traffic congestion in Istanbul on the first working day of the week
On Monday, the start of the workweek, Istanbul experienced heavy traffic congestion at various points throughout the city. One of the areas that faced major difficulties was Maltepe D-100, where vehicles found it challenging to make progress due to the high traffic volume.
The morning rain that had been falling in different parts of the city did little to alleviate the situation, only losing its effect once the weather cleared up and the sun came out. As a result, vehicles on Maltepe D-100 were forced to reduce their speed in order to navigate through the congestion.
Despite efforts to ease the flow of traffic, main arteries in Istanbul continued to experience heavy traffic jams, with congestion levels reaching 62 percent by 9:00 AM. The high volume of vehicles on the road made it difficult for commuters to reach their destinations in a timely manner.
Authorities are urging drivers to plan their routes carefully and consider alternative modes of transportation to avoid getting stuck in traffic. With ongoing construction projects and increasing population, congestion in Istanbul is becoming a common issue that residents and officials are working together to address.
