
Mongolia and China to Sign Cross-Border Railway Deal

Mongolia Initiates Cross-Border Railway Agreement with China
The Mongolian government has taken a significant step towards enhancing connectivity and trade by initiating the establishment of a Cross-Border Railway Agreement for the Gashuunsukhait-Gantsmod railway, one of the 14 mega projects in the country. A related bill has been submitted to the Parliament for approval, marking a milestone in the progress of this crucial infrastructure project.
The Cabinet of Mongolia has entrusted the authority to sign the agreement to Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Ts.Tuvaan, and Minister of Road and Transportation, B.Delgersaikhan. The signing of the Cross-Border Railway Agreement is scheduled to take place on February 14, 2025, signaling a new era of collaboration and cooperation between Mongolia and China.
In parallel with this significant development, Mongolian Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene is currently on a work visit to the People’s Republic of China. During his visit, Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene is scheduled to meet with Premier of the State Council of China, Li Qiang, to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation opportunities between the two countries.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will also attend the closing ceremony of the 9th Asian Winter Games “Harbin-2025” in Harbin, China, underscoring Mongolia’s commitment to regional sports diplomacy and engagement.
The establishment of the Cross-Border Railway Agreement and the visit of Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene to China signify the strengthening of ties between Mongolia and China, and the potential for increased economic and cultural exchanges in the future. This historic event paves the way for closer cooperation and mutual benefits for both nations.
