Mongolia and Qatar Strengthen Cultural Cooperation
The Minister of Culture of Mongolia, Nomin Chinbat, had a constructive meeting with the Head of Partnerships and Sponsorships at Qatar Museums, Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Hamad Al Thani. The two officials discussed the mutual interest in fostering collaboration between museums in Mongolia and Qatar.
Minister Ch. Nomin expressed her satisfaction with the growing cultural connections between the two countries. She mentioned the ongoing Exhibition “Chinggis Khaan: How the Mongols Changed the World” at the Nantes History Museum in France, suggesting its potential display at the National Museum of Qatar. Additionally, she extended an invitation to nomadic tribes of Qatar to participate in the international Nuudelchin (Nomadic) Festival and expressed a keenness to develop cooperation in the field of fine arts.
Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Hamad Al Thani highlighted the success of the “On the Move” Exhibition at the Qatar National Museum, which showcased the agriculture, history, and culture of Mongolian nomads. The Exhibition became the most visited in the Museum’s history, demonstrating the interest in Mongolian culture in Qatar. Furthermore, Sheikh Al-Thani announced an upcoming Exhibition of Qatari culture to be displayed at the National Museum of Mongolia in 2024.
This meeting marks a significant step towards strengthening cultural ties between Mongolia and Qatar. The exchange of exhibitions and the participation of Qatar in Mongolia’s cultural festival will not only enhance mutual understanding but also foster a deeper appreciation for each other’s rich heritage. As both nations look forward to showcasing their unique cultures in each other’s museums, this partnership is expected to further promote cultural exchange and dialogue between Mongolia and Qatar.
