Woo Won-shik Strengthens Ties with Mongolia During Official Visit
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia — Woo Won-shik, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, has embarked on a significant five-day visit to Mongolia aimed at enhancing parliamentary diplomacy and climate cooperation. His visit, commemorating the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations, is expected to deepen the existing “Strategic Partnership.”
During his visit, Woo will meet with prominent Mongolian leaders, including President U.Khurelsukh and the parliamentary speaker D.Amarbayasgalan. Central to the discussions will be strategies to bolster economic and infrastructure collaboration, with a keen focus on addressing the climate crisis in Northeast Asia.
President Khurelsukh welcomed Woo’s visit, expressing optimism that it would notably contribute to reinforcing the bilateral relationship. He highlighted the growth of cooperation across various sectors aligned with shared democratic values, noting that the friendship between the peoples of Korea and Mongolia has continued to flourish.
In addition to high-level talks, Woo is slated to participate in a tree-planting ceremony aimed at combating desertification, a joint initiative that underscores the commitment of both nations to environmental protection.
Speaker Woo reiterated the importance of establishing a robust legal framework for Mongolia-South Korea relations while advocating for enhanced inter-parliamentary cooperation. He emphasized the need for continued economic collaboration and the importance of both nations working together within international and regional contexts.
As the visit unfolds, it is clear that the strengthening of ties between Mongolia and the Republic of Korea not only reflects mutual interests but also emphasizes a collective commitment to global issues such as climate change.
