Two holidaymakers in Izmir caught a 200-kilogram giant tuna fish using only a pocket knife and a harpoon near the shore. The incredible moment was captured on video by one of the vacationers as they struggled to catch the massive fish.
The incident took place in the evening at Mercankoy beach in Karareis, Küçükbahçe Neighborhood, where the giant tuna was spotted swimming close to the shore. One citizen decided to take action and armed themselves with a pocket knife to catch the fish, while another citizen grabbed a speargun and joined in the pursuit.
After a long and intense struggle in the sea, the two vacationers successfully caught the tuna using only a pocket knife and a speargun. The whole ordeal was captured on video by another spectator, showing the determination and effort put in by the holidaymakers to catch the fish.
Despite the challenging battle, the vacationers were overjoyed with their catch and mentioned they were considering selling the 200-kilogram tuna. It was highlighted that special equipment and large boats are usually used to catch this type of fish, making the holidaymakers’ achievement even more remarkable.
Additionally, it is speculated that the tuna had been hunting around the fish farms in Karareis and Küçükbahçe before coming ashore, possibly due to sustaining an injury.
