More Families Join Mothers in “Child Watch” Program

The Children’s Watch, initiated by families who accuse the HDP (People’s Democratic Party) of deceiving their children into joining the terrorist organization PKK, has now reached its 1408th day.
The number of participating families has increased to 361 as another family joined the mothers who gather every day at the HDP provincial building to stage a sit-in, hoping to raise awareness about their cause.
One of the participants, Mehmet Yalçın, shared his personal story, stating that his brother was coerced into joining the mountains 28 years ago when he was just 14 years old in Hakkari. Yalçın expressed his hope to reunite with his brother Melek through this ongoing sit-in protest.
Yalçın also mentioned that some families have successfully reunited with their children thanks to the Children’s Watch movement. He said, “We hope that our voices can be heard, or if my brother sees us, we want him to come back. They kidnapped my brother in the mountains in 1995, and he was not there when we woke up in the morning. Hopefully, through this movement, we can make our voices heard, and he will come back. We want to hear his voice.”
The Children’s Watch has been a symbol of determination and hope for these families who have been longing for the safe return of their loved ones. With the increasing number of participants, their unified voice becomes stronger, demanding justice and the return of their children who were deceived into joining the terrorist organization PKK.
